Ryde All Saints Church Renovation starts - a new chapter begins

All Saints Church, Ryde, is excited to announce the start of the renovation works to the main church building. The works will begin on 10th July and are due to conclude in early November 2025.  This exciting project marks the start of a new chapter in our long history, enabling us to better serve the Ryde community for generations to come.

The much-anticipated improvements include the installation of a new heating system, a sound system, new seating using the original pews (which will now be movable) and chairs — all carefully designed to sit beautifully alongside the church’s fantastic historic features.

The project reflects a deep commitment to preserving the rich heritage of All Saints while making the space more welcoming, accessible, and fit for purpose. The addition of a new café  area at the rear will help foster connections for all generations both on Sundays and mid-week opportunities throughout the week.

The project has been shaped through careful consultation and collaboration, including detailed on-site consultation and negotiation with the Victorian Society, resulting in a renovation plan that respects the church’s unique character by retaining details such as the central cross of Victorian tiles and sixty of the original pews, while embracing thoughtful updates like the addition of a café area and more efficient heating to suit modern use.

“We’re thrilled to see this vision coming to life,” said the Team Rector, the Rev Heath Monaghan. “This work will prepare us for the next stage of our mission to Ryde, equipping us to offer a warm welcome to the whole community in a space that honours both tradition and transformation.”

Importantly, the life of the church will continue uninterrupted:

  • Our 9.30 am Traditional Service on Sunday will move temporarily into the church hall at the rear of the building, and we would love to see you there.

  • All Saints 11.00 am Contemporary Sunday Service and Kids’ Church - will also gather in the church hall at the rear of the church building with Kid’s church gathering in the Vestry Hub. We recently trialled a temporary venue for our 11am service — but it didn’t quite work out! We’re now back in the Church Hall while the refurbishment continues.

  • All other community groups and activities that use the hall will continue as normal.

Updates on these works will be posted here on this webpage, so please do check back for any updates as the works progress.
